The Three Bridges Project might have had its official opening back in October, but that event was marked by wind, rain, and speeches by planning wonks and political bigwigs.
It was great (if you’re into that sort of thing), but on Saturday it was the public’s turn to celebrate and instead of wind, rain and speeches there was sun, smiles, and free cookies. [Read more…]
By now, you’ve surely heard of the Sprockettes — Portland’s very own mini-bike dance troupe who have won many fans for their energetic, sexy, and synchronized street routines.
But what you may not know, is that the same infectious charm that has made them a must-see in Portland, has also inspired other ladies to grab their bikes and dance.
One such group is the Vancouver BC-based B:C:Clettes.
I saw them for the first time at the recent Sprockettes Invitational and came away a believer. Now Momentum Magazine (highly recommended), has given them their due and put them on the cover of their current issue. [Read more…]
The Sprockettes—those sexy, synchronized, mini-bike-dancing superstars—have released the official invitation to their big event, The International Bike Dance Off and Benefit Party. [Read more…]
The Sprockettes—Portland’s very own synchronized, mini-bike dance troupe—have been very busy lately. In addition to adding a new member (congrats Reena!), they’ve just released a few images from their 2007 calendar and announced plans for a big benefit party coming up in November.
Last year’s calendar sold so well, they’re doing it again this year. The calendar is a fund-raiser and features all the ladies doing their thing in creatively pink-ified photographs. The calendar isn’t printed yet, but stay tuned for details on where you can get one. [Read more…]
[You’d be happy too if you were interviewed on NPR!]
A while back I reported that the Sprockettes were due to make an appearance on the nationally broadcast National Public Radio show Day-to-Day.
Even though I knew the reporter had been in Portland to get the story, I have worked in PR and I realize you never know if a story will actually run until it does.
So I’ve been checking the web daily and lo and behold The Sprockettes made it on the show today! And they even link to one of my Sprockette photos on Flickr (which I have now modified for the occassion;-)).
The audio from the show has just been published too, so go on over and check it out:
The Sprockettes, Portland’s very own mini-bike dance troupe, have finally hit the big time. They will be the subject of an upcoming segment on the national NPR show Day to Day.
The producer was down from Seattle over the weekend to get audio for the story at a Sprockette’s performance.
It’s no secret that I’m a huge Sprockettes fan so this is great news.
Also, in anticipation of the show, the girl’s have just unveiled their new website at Sprockettes.org. Go check out their website and stay tuned for an update with the link to the show.
Congrats ladies!

Last Sunday was Dumpster Dave’s Bike Swap Meet at Free Geek in Southeast Portland. The sun was hot and the so were the deals. There were all sorts of crazy bikes and interestingpeople on display.
I set up a table and joined the fray alongside Joe Biel of Microcosm Publishing. I saw lots of old friends including Sacha and Ben from Vanilla Bicycles. Sacha has an amazing limited edition poster that I hope to share with you soon. [Read more…]
