Sprockettes update and a sneak peek at ’07 calendar

calendar]

The Sprockettes—Portland’s very own synchronized, mini-bike dance troupe—have been very busy lately. In addition to adding a new member (congrats Reena!), they’ve just released a few images from their 2007 calendar and announced plans for a big benefit party coming up in November.

Last year’s calendar sold so well, they’re doing it again this year. The calendar is a fund-raiser and features all the ladies doing their thing in creatively pink-ified photographs. The calendar isn’t printed yet, but stay tuned for details on where you can get one.

Here are a few more shots from the calendar:

In addition to the calendar, the big news is the upcoming Sprockettes International Dance-Off and Benefit Party on November 17th. This event will feature a “weekend of bike fun” that will include special guest performances by two other bike dance troupes from Vancouver, BC; the B:C:clettes and the all-male Brakes (that should be interesting).

The thing I’m most excited about is a live performance by the Sprockettes and Romanteek, the band behind their beloved theme song, S.O.T. I. (Sexy on the Inside).

Other event highlights include a set by Portland bikey band Show me the Pink, a “Bling your Bike” booth, and a silent auction. This is sure to be an event you won’t want to miss…stay tuned for more details.

It sounds like the Sprockettes are set for yet another fantastic year. Good luck ladies and I’ll see you out on the streets!

Did you hear if they’re going to be on David Letterman or not? I know there was talk, but never heard what the final decision was from WORLDWIDE PANTS.

Reena has been swell, but she’s not our only new member! We’ve really stepped it up and now have 24 members. We have heartily welcomed Justa, Tiger, Hannah, Reena, Katy and Zoe to the crew, as well as our coach Vanessa and photographer Sarah!

The Sprockettes are great. So are the Brakes.

I remember someone accusing the Sprockettes of being sex objects: http://bikeportland.org/2005/09/18/sprockettes-take-over-the-streets/

I wonder what she would think of the Brakes… 🙂
