Sprockettes inspiration powers B:C:Clettes

By now, you’ve surely heard of the Sprockettes — Portland’s very own mini-bike dance troupe who have won many fans for their energetic, sexy, and synchronized street routines.

But what you may not know, is that the same infectious charm that has made them a must-see in Portland, has also inspired other ladies to grab their bikes and dance.

One such group is the Vancouver BC-based B:C:Clettes.

I saw them for the first time at the recent Sprockettes Invitational and came away a believer. Now Momentum Magazine (highly recommended), has given them their due and put them on the cover of their current issue.

To learn more about the B:C:Clettes, check out this great article by Momentum writer Rowan Lipkovits.

Here’s an excerpt:

“The B:C:Cettes originally drew inspiration from the Sprockettes, a bold pink and black ensemble of women from the bike freak Mecca of Portland, Oregon, who made a big splash at Seattle’s Dead Baby Downhill in 2005. Performing dance routines incorporating mini-bikes, they demonstrated hitherto unimagined possibilities to a visiting Vancouver contingent…”

Check out the B:C:Clettes on MySpace and watch them perform on YouTube.

It’s great to see the Sprockettes spread their moves and their message far and wide. Here’s to more bike dance troupes popping up all over the world!

When the Clettes perfomed ‘THRILLER’ at Momentum’s Harmonzier party this past weekend, I died a happy zombie.
