The Meyer Memorial Trust, created by the late retail magnate Fred Meyer, announced their latest grant recipients on Friday. Among them is the Beaverton-based has Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition (WashCoBTC). The group has been awarded $7,500 for “strategic planning and board development.”
A group of volunteers concerned about bicycle and pedestrian safety on crowded bike lanes and paths, handed out free bike bells to downtown commuters on both sides of the Hawthorne Bridge this morning.
In the last few days, I’ve noticed two important positions come up that present great opportunities for bicycle-conscious leaders to play a larger role in the future of Portland.
By now, I hope everyone has at least some idea of what the Bicycle Master Plan is all about. Whether you’re an expert, or if you’re still in the dark, you don’t want to miss one of these upcoming public forums.
