Fixie bill passes Senate by wide margin

BTA lobbyist Scott Bricker reports that Senate Bill 729, which seeks to amend the brake requirement for bicycles, passed through the Senate in Salem today by a landslide margin of 22-6.

Commissioner’s office reports on Montreal visit

Last month, Portland City Commissioner Sam Adams traveled to Montreal. Along for the trip was his Chief of Staff for Transportation, Tom Miller. Tom gave me a brief report about the trip and shared his thoughts about how Montreal’s bike infrastructure and culture compares to Portland.

Bicycle Film Festival announces Portland stop

The Bicycle Film Festival (not to be confused with Portland’s own Filmed by Bike) has chosen Portland as one of the cities it will visit in 2007. The event is scheduled for September 5-8th.

Nike, Trek end relationship, future consumer offerings "uncertain"

Nike’s $300 Lance 10//2 cycling shoe. Earlier this morning, I reported that Nike (whose world headquarters are just a few miles from Portland) had “dropped” their entire line of cycling gear and clothing. I just got an update on that story from Bob Applegate, Nike’s Communications Director for Oregon.
