MADE Bike Show hits Portland this weekend

Portland has a stellar legacy of independent bicycle framebuilders and the industry that supports them. It’s a part of our community I’ve enjoyed documenting for many years. MADE, the world’s largest handmade bicycle show, continues that legacy by bringing the best bike makers from all over the country to Portland. And it happens next weekend! Below is a note from the show’s founder and director, Billy Sinkford. Hope to see you there.  — Jonathan

Hello! Billy from MADE dropping you a quick note about next weekend, and getting you ready for a big weekend of bikes. It’s time for the world’s largest handmade bicycle show to return to Portland. This is our 4th year, and we are super excited to welcome you down at Zidell Yards. MADE is a labor of love, spotlighting framebuilding and the brands that support the builders.

The Portland cycling community has welcomed MADE and the handmade community with open arms. We appreciate you, and thank you for supporting the show. Our way of saying thanks, use code MADEBump (case sensitive) for 10% off tickets. You can get your tickets here.

Things kick off on Thursday evening with the Chris King 50th Anniversary Party at 5 PM. We open the doors at Zidell Yards on Friday at 9 AM. The show runs daily through Sunday at 4 PM. Hundreds of beautiful bikes (And the wonderful folks that made them) will be on display from local makers and builders from around the globe. There are tons of rides and events happening throughout the weekend. You can find a list here that will likely be updated throughout the week.

I hope you can come down and join us, or attend a ride or evening event. We have the cycling industry in town to support the show, come hang out! There will be big bikes (32 inch wheels are a thing!), product launches, scavenger hunts, giveaways, and more handmade metal bikes under one roof than you will see anywhere else. Keep up to date on the show on Instagram here, we will be posting show updates and some very special bikes throughout the next two weeks.

And finally, thank you Jonathan! We appreciate you and all you have done for Portland Cycling. The Bike Portland community is strong, and everyone owes you a tremendous debt of gratitude for years of service.

— Billy Sinkford, Director of Show
