Voodoo touts bike-friendliness at new location

Voodoo Doughnuts — a staple of baked goodness that has fueled countless Portland bike events — is celebrating their fifth anniversary and the opening of their second location, Voodoo Too (at 1501 NE Davis, just north of Sandy Blvd.)
According to employee Robin Ludwig, 90% of the people that work at Voodoo ride their bikes to work (and “all the time”). He also says that the new location will host regular bike-in movies and will have, “massive amounts of bike parking…this includes our fence which we’re encouraging people to use as a bike rack.”
A press release issued by Voodoo’s owners says “We need people on bikes because we are touting that Voodoo Too has the most bike parking in the Pacific Northwest.”
That’s a bold claim, so I rode by the new location this morning to check it out. I counted five staple racks out front and an imposing, wrought iron fence that I assume they think would make a perfect bike lock-up location.
UPDATE: Mr. Ludwig says, “We are currently building a covered bike parking structure in the parking lot and collecting old dented staples the city can’t use anymore…it should be done by this Friday.”
To kick off their anniversary and their new location (which will surely become a popular meeting spot for group bike rides), Voodoo has organized a parade for this Friday night. Ludwig says “a huge bike contingent [at the parade] would be awesome”.
Voodoo is hoping their parade is at least 1,000 people strong so come out and join what is sure to be a parade full of the eclectic mix of everything that makes Portland, Portland — and give a little back to the place that has donated (and sold for cheap) so many buckets of doughnuts to this city’s bike scene.

Thanks so much for the story Jonathan! Only thing is, I'm male...besides that looks great. Yes, we are currently building a covered bike parking structure in the parking lot and collecting old dented staples they can't use anymore from the city that we are installing ourselves on property. The Five pictured are the ones the city installed. The structure probably won't be finalized by Friday, but very soon if not.
And yes the fence makes a great place to lock your bike.
We also would love to host bike events this summer in our parking lot, so talk to us if you need a spot.

[...] Voodoo Doughnuts is celebrating their fifth anniversary and the opening of their second location, Voodoo Too (at 1501 NE Davis, just north of Sandy Blvd.), by hosting a parade this Friday night. Two of our favorite things (donuts and parades) in one event? We couldn’t resist. We’ll have the Mundo on-hand at the downtown Voodoo location at 7, cruising across the river to Voodoo Too. You can read more at BikePortland.org. [...]

Thanks for the Google Street View, xb.
Looking at it I see a 'huge' parking lot. Does that mean the entire lot is reserved for bicycles? ...way cool...

Voodoo has always been generous in their culinary support of bike and other community events. Thank you!

[...] Voodoo Doughnuts Too A delicious Portland landmark has added a second site. Nothing wrong with the very convenient and walkable downtown location, but cyclists will find that Voodoo Doughnuts’ new eastside location hits the bicycle-parking sweet spot. (Sadly, the Annual Meeting wasn’t held early enough for the grand parade.) [...]
