Portland based Retro Image Apparel has a new jersey coming out this spring based on a print by local artist Jimmy Cavalieri. Jimmy is a long time reader and supporter of BikePortland, so we’re really excited to see this jersey happen.

Check out the design below…

Jimmy Cavalieri.

Retro Image Apparel founder and art director Roger Mallette says his company has entered into a license agreement with Cavalieri and several local shops have already shown interest. The artwork for the new jersey is based on Cavalieri’s “171 cogs” print that debuted at the Artcrank Poster Show in Portland back in October.

Retro Image also makes the jersey for local brewery Lucky Lab and has inked deals with many brands including The New Yorker, Dr. Seuss, and others.

Retro Image is just one of many bike-related apparel companies doing business in Portland. Others include Castelli, Rapha, Wabi Woolens, Showers Pass, VeloClothes.com, BicyclingHub.com and others.

Looks like a cool design! I hope it comes out in several colors… the blue and white looks really good, but I think something like a black background and bright pink lettering/design elements would look really sharp, for example..

NICE!!!
Good job Jim.
And good eye Roger. I think you found a great design that will transfer well to a jersey and other apparel.
Can’t wait to see a jersey in person.
