Wanted: Your opinions and guest articles

If you have an opinion on something, a big idea to share, or a recap of a ride, meeting, or event, I’d love to publish it here on BikePortland. I’m even open to news stories and press releases.

This site has always been a platform for our community, and I’d like to keep it that way — even as I step away. I’ve had many folks reach out with guest article ideas and submissions already. Thank you! If you’d like to join them and see your words and photos (heck, I’d even share your video if you’ve got one) on these pages, feel free to reach out. As longtime readers know, the editorial scope of BikePortland has always been very broad. I’m interested in almost anything that impacts our relationship to mobility, public space, streets, and so on.

You can contact me at maus.jonathan@gmail.com with submissions.

When it comes to editorial guidelines, here are a few thoughts:

  • A length of about 500-800 words is great. Longer is possible if the writing is strong and the subject warrants it.
  • Please don’t use AI.
  • Include direct hyperlinks to other sources.
  • Photos can be shared as attachments via email.
  • Promoting yourself/your company/your product is OK, up to a point. I have always used this platform to help local businesses, makers, entrepreneurs succeed.
  • Include a 1-2 sentence bio about yourself and a recent headshot.

In addition to posting here, I would also consider sharing your words and photos to our many readers on social media.

With your help, we can keep this platform alive and well. Please consider sharing an article and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
