The Artcrank Poster Show is coming to Portland this Thursday (10/7). The event, billed as a “Poster party for bike people,” was a big success when it came to town last year. This year we’re doubly excited for its arrival because we’ve got a poster of our own in the show.

The Artcrank concept is so simple it’s beautiful (both literally and figuratively). A bunch of talented artists share their bike-inspired work on the walls of the The Cleaners at Ace Hotel gallery space in downtown Portland. Proceeds from sales on the night of the show go to the artists and local non-profit Bikes to Rwanda. It’s an excellent opportunity to showcase (and support) local art and our shared love of bicycling all at once.

I liked the event so much last year, I wanted get involved more this time around. The result is a partnership with talented local artist (and our old neighbor at ActivSpace in Southeast Portland) Lukas Ketner. You might remember Lukas for the “Bikers vs Cars: Collision Course” spoof movie poster he drew for Portland Monthly Magazine back in 2008. For Artcrank, Lukas created a fantastic illustration for us around a theme of “Know by Bike.”

We can’t wait to unveil our poster and see the other amazing creations from all the other artists. Join us Thursday night at The Cleaners at Ace Hotel (403 SW 10th Ave) from 5 – 11:00 p.m. For more event details, see the Artcrank Portland website.
