[From Anna Scalera, BTA]
Do you have any free time during the school week? Or would your employer be willing to let you out for a good cause?
BTA needs adult volunteers to ride bikes with kids in the Bicycle Safety Education program. The rides are fun and memorable, with a few kids bound to make your day with their show of excitement for biking. Grade levels include 4th-6th grades.

No Washington County participation? I’m out in Hillsboro and I’m happy to help, but I’d need to keep close to my relative environ.
Hi Matt-
There are 2 Bicycle Safety Education programs out your way- one in Tigard, one in Beaverton. While it’s true that most of our school programs are in Portland, that’s mainly because Portland has prioritized Safe Routes to School programs and Portland has been a good starting point for us.
However, we’d love to see our program run in schools in all communities, and the program does take place in 6 other Oregon cities. Schools in Washington County that do receive the program have at least one bike-loving staff member who spearheaded the effort to get our program into their classrooms.
Let me know if you’d like to help out at Vose or Metzger Elementary Schools.
Thanks!
Anna Scalera
