PBOT is eager to hitch their wagon onto the success of bike buses.
James John Elementary has an active bike bus that has spurred demand for bikes among the school community.
Their resolution seeks to reduce the number of drivers on 25 school routes by next year.
The money will pay for bike bus leaders and other programs related to encouraging families to bike and walk to school.
The project would solidify the routes and encourage more families to join.
This could be the start of something big (on multiple levels).
Many elements of planning and advocacy have come together to stoke Portland’s bike bus fever.
We have our first batch of research after the bike bus movement exploded in 2021.
Unfortunately, it happens to kids on bikes too.
The ride illustrates how the proliferation of bike buses in Portland has made our community stronger.
Instead of leading kids, they led bike bus advocates and fans from across the country.
