Thieves broke into Cascade Cycling Friday night (2/26) and stole bicycles and parts.
Cascade owner Ben Bartlett got in touch with us about the news this afternoon. He said the thieves smashed a front window and took several “precious rides.”
Here are the bikes to keep a look out for:
- Surly Steamroller with 3-speed Sturmey Archer hub, drum brakes and a generator. It has a black Brooks saddle, full fenders and a Noah’s Arc handlebar.
- SE Racing “Lager” singlespeed serial number ICSE10104518. It has black fenders.
Bartlett, who opened his shop on the corner of N. Killingsworth and Vancouver back in July of 2006 says he’s offering a “handsome reward” for the return of the bikes.
If you have any information about these bikes or the crime itself, please call the shop at (503) 281-0255.

Lame. I love this shop. It is my neighborhood shop and the employees are stellar.
anything for some crack.
Lame, but he’s got insurance right?
That’s awful. I hope the thieves are brought to justice. Hopefully they have insurance.
I’d seen that steamroller in there before and it was way pimp. Definitley deserved a good home. Not this.
Wait was the Yamaguchi snatched? Or was it never there?
AAARRGGHHH!!! That’s so lame! One robbed bike shop owner to another, keep the faith!
A bike shop window without bars is like a cable lock on a bike. Just a matter of time before someone uses very basic tools to open it.
There must be a talented welder/artist interested in designing and fabricating attractive and effective security for windows, maybe even on trade.
Bike Gallery in woodstock has some attractive metal work inside its windows. I am not sure of the artist.
while agree with AC, I deplore the need for such things, and also the negative effect they have on the urban landscape.
