Pedalpalooza Daily – 6/18

In honor of Father’s Day there are two kid’s rides today; the Trailer Kids Park Tour in Northeast and the Freight Bike – Karrying Kargo and Kids Rodeo happening up in Vancouver.

INTERMEDIATE ROAD RIDE

BEGINNER WOMEN’S RIDE

5329 NE Sandy Blvd. (Hollywood Bike Gallery)
9am
These rides are for women just starting to learn cycling. Whether you have a hybrid, converted mountain bike, or road bike, the Beginner Women’s rides will assist in building your confidence and abilities on the bike. Rides are 10-20 miles, with an average speed of 10-14 mph on mostly flat terrain with some minor hills.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED WOMENS RIDE

These rides are for women wanting to push themselves a little further. Terrain varies with the changing routes be they hills, longer flat rides, or shorter quicker paced rides. 20-40+ miles with an average of 13-18 mph. All rides are group rides and begin at 9am. Road bikes only.

NE 35th Ave and Skidmore (Wilshire Park, at the sandbox)
10am, We leave the park at 11:00 sharp.
Father’s Day Trailer Kids Park Tour–hitch up the trailer and grab the kids, we’re going to the park by bike! Ride leaves Wilshire Park (NE 35th and Skidmore, at the sandbox) at 11:00 sharp. We will travel to a few parks, the ride ending when our interest fades. Bring a picnic & we’ll stop at any ice cream shops we happen to pass. THE FOURTH ANNUAL ZOOBOMB CENTURY
Washington Park Max Stop (top of the elevators and up the hill a bit)
10am, 10 sharp for racers, all day for spectators
A grueling all day race; the winner is the first to ride a hundred miles (mostly downhill) on a little kid’s bike. Show up with a 16″ bike to race for prizes, or show up any time during the day to cheer on the racers and ride the zoobomb routes with us on whatever bike you want. Email me to preregister.

The Community Exchange Cycle Club offers rides once a week for beginner and intermediate bike riders. Free Pre-Ride Tune-up at 1:00pm. There will be an Easy Loop as well as an Intermediate Ride. Easy loop length -approximately 15 miles departs at 2:10pm.<br> Intermediate ride length -approximately 30 miles departs 2:10pm.<br> Rides depart from Madison Plaza-just north of the Hawthorne Bridge on the Eastbank Esplanade. Gravity-powered bike fun: meet at Rocco’s Pizza, 10th & W. Burnside between 8-9PM. Watch the Simpsons then ride the MAX to the zoo with your bike and zoobomb down…. costumes and little bikes optional. Bring $1.65 or fare for the MAX, a white front light, and a red rear light or reflector.
