Cyclists search for hit-and-run driver

The details of a hit-and-run crash in Washington County last Saturday have been making their way around the web. Friends of the victim are hoping to find the driver in order to bring them to justice.
The victim—the mother of 2 year-old triplets—was forced off the road by a pickup towing a boat trailer and is in the hospital with a severe arm injury.
John Shader, a coach with Portland Team in Training who was riding just behind the crash, said to be on the lookout for a “shiny bright red late model pickup truck towing a very new looking red boat, possibly a 23 foot Centurian model.”
The crash happened on Hwy 219 North (Hillsboro - Newberg Highway) a little west of Scholls Ferry Road. If you see this vehicle, try and get the license plate number and contact Washington County police.

It would be interesting to know the quality of the DMV's database.
Theoretically it should be trivial to do a search for red pick-ups cross referenced with boat trailers registered to the same person/address. Whether their IT systems are up to such a modest challenge... I have no idea, it's the govt.

Could we please we please get more details. Specifically, what direction was the vehicle heading? Is it possible that this vehicle/boat was heading to/from the greater Yamhill valley area to/from Hagg Lake? If so, it is possible that riders in either of these areas will see this combination again (esp. Hagg Lake).

i'm glad it was only an arm injurty (still sucks, of course). when i first started reading i thought i was going to learn that a mother of 2 year old triplets had died.

Its funny that you have the "possible links" to the Oregonians cycling forum. I like to check the sit often to hear what all of the people who tend to dislike cyclist say. Here is what one person just posted.
"Yesterday the 22nd a woman bicyclist was supposedly hit by a truck pulling a boat on Hwy 219 in rural Washington County and had someone throw water on her. Does anyone but me see the possibility of a clumsy bicyclist trying to get sympathy for her own stupidity? Why ride a bicycle on a very narrow road with no bike path or shoulder where the speed limit is 55 mph? Come on even the most avid rider will avoid roads like that with that high of a speed limit unless they have a death wish. Personally I believe she made the whole thing up. Wit the current controversy between bicyclists and drivers going on, she may be shooting for sympathy. No witnesses makes a situation where it is her word ONLY to go on."
Unfortunately this is the attitude of so many drivers. Just yesterday, I had some maniac on Prescott drive his car so close that it brushed against my pant leg (despite the fact that he had the road to himself) and then proceeded to flip my off. This type of behavior, as well as the water/boat incident, or the throwing of ice on zoobombers, and the countles others are simply inexcusable. I wish the cyclist run off the road a speedy recovery

I have seen vehicles with front end damage driving around. (No red trucks but that should be very easy to spot if it is located around here. Did it sustain any damage?) Makes you wonder how the damaged vehicles got that way. Maybe we should start a website where the license numbers and vehicle description could be posted just in case. 99.9% would not be from hitting a pedestrian or cyclist but probably 0.1% might be from that. I guess the list would get pretty long pretty fast.
Since it would be police business I'd recommend that they start the website and let anyone post to it without giving their name, etc. There may already be one. I think there is a website where you can report crappy drivers.

And then we could start a website with photos and descriptions of people we see on the street who are wearing torn-up clothing. 99.9% of the time it won't be because they tore their cothes breaking into houses, but probably .1% might be from that.
