A friend took of mine took a trip to Sweden and told me about this amazing sight in Stockholm — an on-street bicycle pump. I wonder how long it will be before this is a normal feature of the landscape here in Portland.

What would it take to convince the city into installing a few of the second ones around town?
How about private sector sponsorships?
By the way, the Stockholm public pumps are automatic, no hand pumping needed.
A few of the stations also has counters keeping track of and displaying the number of cyclists passing by on the bike path. I believe it even does so without counting pedestrians, at least it didn’t react when I walked by.
