Springwater Corridor in Rails to Trails Magazine

Portland’s very own Springwater Corridor Trail is the subject of a beautiful cover photo and feature story in the Summer issue of Rails to Trails Magazine. The magazine is available to members of the Rails to Trails Conservancy.
They called the Springwater, “a stunning and well-planned urban connector” that “embodies the spirit of Portland.”

Also, the Rails-to-Trails folks have selected Portland for their national conference in 2007. No dates/details yet.

I got this email from the Boring community which is working to find funding to pave the eastern Springwater Trail out to Boring, OR.
Also my household is a member of Rails2Trails, so I'll see about getting SK Northwest a copy
Hello all,
As part of the grass roots effort to raise funds, awareness and community support for the paving of the trail and development of the
trailhead park, we will be hosting a farmer's market on Sundays from 10-3, beginning June 25 and running through August immediately at the
end of the Spring water trail- in the area designated for the trailhead park, at Boring Station. Imagine a cool summer morning, a
beautiful bike ride, arriving at a Farmer's Market for a locally roasted ice coffee and a pint of berries to refuel your energy for the ride back to Portland. What could be better!
I've attached a flyer for your information. We're still accepting applications for vendors of produce, nursery stock or locally produced
crafts. We're also brainstorming bike themed events for the future.

If riding from Milwaukie to the edge of Gresham on the Springwater Trail, be prepared for one butt-jarring experience. Yes, it is paved, but it's one very bumpy paving job. From Gresham to where the pavement ends in Boring the pavement is smooth and a pleasure to ride. It would be nice to have the southern end in Boring paved, but let's do it the right way, and then consider a ribbon of new pavement over the rough stuff from Milwaukie to Gresham. That trail is an amazing addition to the East Portland area, but one shouldn't have to need a crotch transplant just because they've used it.
