Retailer Joe Bike will open second store on SE Clinton

The former location of Clinton Street Video will soon be bike shop.

Joe Bike owner Joe Doebele says he plans to open a second location at 2501 SE Clinton late next month. The corner location will put him in the heart of a bustling Hosford-Abernethy neighborhood commercial district and right next door to Pedal PT, a cycling-focused physical therapy and bike fit studio. This section of Clinton is also a neighborhood greenway route and popular cycling thoroughfare.

Joe Bike moved into its current location on SE Cesar Chavez and Lincoln in 2012. Doebele says the new space on Clinton will become his main store with more space for an expansive showroom for new bikes and accessories. New bike clothing boutique opens on SE Hawthorne Blvd.

Southeast Portland’s Hawthorne Blvd is a destination for fashion lovers. Now it’s also home to Joe Bike Apparel, a new boutique devoted solely to stylish cycling.

Joe Bike Apparel, which opened its doors at 3953 SE Hawthorne on March 19th, is the latest business foray by bicycling entrepreneur Joe Doebele. You might remember Doebele as the guy who created the Shuttlebug cargo bike back in 2010. That project helped establish the Joe Bike retail shop which used to be in the location where Joe Bike Apparel is now.

Joe Doebele, owner of Joe Bike on SE Hawthorne Blvd, debuted a new, family-oriented cargo bike at The Bicycle Show today. Dubbed the ShuttleBug, the bike is the first product from Joe Bike that is made 100% in Portland.

Joe Bike, a new retail shop that sells imported (and then modified) utility and cargo bikes, is open for business on Hawthorne Blvd.

Joe Doebeles big idea is to help other Portlanders with theirs.

The 44-year-old Doebele, who grew up in Chicago and moved to Portland in 2000, has rented a building near the corner of SE 20th and Belmont and is setting up Portlands first-ever bicycle industry incubator Stumpworks.[Read more…]
