I first brought you the news about original, Dutch Batavus bikes potentially coming to the U.S. market back in October. I had received spy photos of them from my correspondents at the Interbike trade show in Las Vegas.
Yesterday at the Multnomah Athletic Club, about fifty members of the Portland Ambassadors (a business development organization partnered closely with the Portland Development Commission) attended a forum to learn more about our local bicycle industry. They heard from a broad range of perspectives about how bicycles play an increasingly significant role in our region’s economy.

New logo of the OBCA A group of Portland framebuilders are in the early stages of forming the Oregon Bicycle Constructors Association (OBCA). The effort is being led by veteran framebuilder Andy Newlands of Strawberry Cyclesport and Natalie and Austin Ramsland of Sweetpea Bicycles.
At the end of April, local framebuilder and former bicycle messenger Ira Ryan will travel to Iowa for a grueling, 325 mile endurance race known as the Trans-Iowa.
