Portland photographer Eric Thornburg’s images of Pedalpalooza rides are a testament to what “free bike fun” in Portland is really all about.

Mostly taken from the seat of his bicycle, Thornburg’s photos show how these rides allow people to enjoy our streets and public spaces, connect with friends, and relax and be at ease with themselves. Here’s just a sampling of scenes he’s come across from the last two weeks of rides:

By all accounts, this year’s Pedalpalooza has been excellent. We’re seeing huge turnouts for all types of creative and fun rides. And even smaller rides are producing the requisite grins and restored faith in humanity.

If you want to feel better about the world, I highly recommend a scroll through the #pedalpalooza Instagram hashtag.

And remember kids, if you see someone doing something illegal, tell a cop!

Where might we able to find one? I typically go months between cop sightings in Portland.
