Don’t miss BikeCraft at the Bike Show

This weekend is the big Pedal National Bicycle Show at the Oregon Convention Center. There will be lots to do and see, but I wanted to remind everyone that BikePortland is hosting a special section for local BikeCrafters. We’ve reserved two exhibitor booths and will host six local artisans and business owners who will share their wares with all in attendance.

Here are the six BikeCrafters you can meet at the show (and a look at the excellent, Portland-made, bike-inspired items they’ll be selling):

Founded by Curtis Williams (he debuted at BikeCraft V back in February as 3bags), North St. Bags is set for great things. The bags are very well-designed, good-looking, and functional. Make sure to check out the star of his line-up, the Avenue B backpack/pannier.

Almost Monday will share her intriguing bicycle prints. To make them, she used a copper plate printing method that gives the finished print “a velvety richness” and makes each of her limited editions unique. Can’t wait to see these in person:

Rachel Dominguez-Benner of BikeCozy makes caps, tool rolls, waterproof toe cage covers, and more:

If you are looking for a fun way to make your bike more reflective, check out Brian Engelen’s Fun Reflectors. Made out of durable 3M Scotchlite, they come in all types of crazy designs:

And famous stalwart of the DIY publishing and propaganda world, Microcosm Publishing will also be on hand with their many books, zines, stickers, patches, and t-shirts:

And finally, promise yourself to spend a few minutes taking in the leather finery of Walnut Studiolo and the work of Val and Geoff Franklin. This stuff was a huge hit at BikeCraft V:

BikeCraft V-38

The BikePortland BikeCraft section will be in spaces 100 and 102 (next to the food court and Hopworks beer garden!). See you there!
