Hurtbird’s new album features “I Like My Bike”

Portland based band, Hurtbird, has a great song on their new album titled, I Like My Bike. Nature vs. City is their third album and the band’s throwing a CD release party tomorrow.

Hurtbird is Ryan Hayes, Michael Young, Joel Holly and Brian Gumpert. Holly is on staff at the Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA) and Hayes says everyone in the band is “bike-friendly”. “Most of us commute by bike, two of us race road and cyclocross.”

Hayes also said that you can download “I Like My Bike” for free at their website from now until their show starts tomorrow night. Tickets to tonight’s show are $7 at the door and if you roll up on your bike they’ll take a dollar off.

Their new album is titled Nature vs. City and I like what I’ve heard so far. “I Like My Bike” opens with a sample track from a funny, old bike safety PSA and the lyrics describe what it’s like riding around Portland. The band’s bio describes their music as a “weird-beard blend of astro-nautical grooves and head scratching lyrics.”

Check out Hurtbird on Facebook and listen and download their music at HurtbirdMusic.com.
