The Willamette Pedestrian Coalition has chosen Stephanie Routh as their new Director. The WPC is a Portland-based non-profit that is, “dedicated to promoting walking and making the conditions for walking safe and attractive.”

Here’s the official statement:

Stephanie is highly regarded for her non-profit organizational development skills, her passion for promoting sustainability and interest in celebrating community diversity. The Portland native helped found local non-profit Umbrella organization and continues in her part-time role at Green Empowerment as Resource Development Coordinator.

Her portfolio includes several years of international teaching and aid experience. Stephanie will be working part-time for the WPC, with office hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She will be responsible for organization communications and development, community outreach and leading implementation of the WPC’s Strategic Plan. That Plan includes execution of the work plan for a grant received from the Northwest Health Foundation. She can be reached at info@wpcwalks.org or 503-223-1597.

Routh is a regular at Shift’s Breakfast on the Bridges events and other bike fun happenings around town. We look forward to seeing what she does for pedestrian advocacy here in Portland.

Congratulations, Steph! The WPC and you are lucky to find each other. I can’t imagine them hiring a nicer and/or more qualified leader than you! 🙂
