Filmed by Bike — the bike film festival that took over Clinton Street Theater this past weekend — raised $2,500 for the Multnomah County Bike Fair.

MCBF is the annual celebration of Portland’s bike culture and community that draws hundreds to Colonel Summers Park for a mad-cap mix of unicycle-jousting, pedal-powered smoothies, bike crafts, Sprockettes, and more.

Filmed by Bike organizer Ayleen Crotty says MCBF “is looking pretty good this year,” thanks to the 1,600 people that showed up for the eight screenings. Ayleen reports that on opening night she sold out both shows and turned away 300 others for lack of space.

The event was a big success and Ayleen credits the 45 volunteers and all the talented filmmakers for making it happen.

So… what’s in the cards for next year? Ayleen says she’s working with PDOT for expanded bike parking (and making it available all weekend long), she’ll have more entertainment and activities for folks waiting in line, she plans to add a super-late Friday night screening (11:00pm) and she’ll work to improve audio and video quality.

For a taste of where the $2,500 will go, check out my 2007 MCBF photo gallery.

hell yeah, she did!

twas great to return home from a month long bike movie tour to see how the new kids are mixing it up.

I had serious doubts that FBB needed so many screenings. I am humbly stoked to see so many people in PDX step up to see the new hotness.

congrats to ayleen and the horde of volunteers and filmmakers who made it possible.

Hey thanks everyone for coming out to another great year! If only the weather had not been 72 and sunny maybe we would have sold out all those screenings. But really, I\’m not complaining!

Can\’t wait for MCBF to be here.

p.s. MCBF needs volunteers

Many thanks to all of you who attended Filmed by Bike. Now we can finally afford to install a parquet floor for proper tall bike jousting and we can give every audience member a live lobster to throw during the derby.

Ayleen\’s right. We do need quite a few volunteers to keep an eye on all the lobsters seeing as they\’re too young to drink, they\’re thirsty fellas, and the OLCC is likely to be out in droves.

To volunteer, email: info@shift2bikes.org

June 28th.
Be there.
Bring band-aids.
