Man arrested in Washington County hit and run

Breaking news in last Saturday’s hit-and-run out on Highway 219.

Washington County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 37 year-old John Carothers. According to reports, Carothers willingly turned himself in.

Carothers sent cyclist, surgeon and mother of triplets Cindy Sharp to the hospital with serious arm injuries after running her off the road last week a little west of Scholls, Oregon.

According to a report on Northwest Cable News Channel, Sharp was first harassed by Carothers’ vehicle before his boat trailer ran her off the road into a ditch.

Please post contact information for Wash. Co. D.A. We need to call and write the prosecuters and insist on asking for the full sentance given the severity and maliciousness of this crime.

It seems like the public needs to be educated that it’s not funny to attempt to murder a cyclist. 5 years in PMITA prison seems like a good way. I sure hope this chump doesn’t just end up with propbation.

He looks damn freaked in his mug shot though. That made me smile a little…

What an excellent example of courage. Attacking a woman who is by herself with a large boat towing a trailer. I hope Mr. Carothers reads this post and hears all of the responses exonerating him as a bully of the lowest kind.

Sent the usual e-mail asking that they press more charges than hit and run…

John Carothers will go in front of the Judge at the Washington county Sheriffs Building for arraignment at 9AM tomorrow.
This will happen at the Sheriffs Building across the street from the Washington County Courthouse in Hillsboro.
It’s open to the public.
You can contact the Wash. County DAs office at (503) 846-8671. I’ve done so via phone and e-mail requesting that they throw the book at him. The person who spat on Cindy is still at large. The Wash. County Sheriff may decide to pursue him by issuing a warrant for his arrest….I’m wondering what’s taking them so long?
