Yesterday I finally got around to checking out the Zoobomb crew. I’d just finished grooving with Mobile Mystery Dance Party and headed up the hill to Washington Park to see what they were up to.
I wasn’t on a mini-bike like last time, but it was fun just being up there (and you can still get going pretty fast on a Schwinn 3-speed!). They were hanging out, grilling burgers and having some good times.
They had just finished their big Zoobomb Century event where they see who can ride 100 miles downhill the fastest. The winner was this guy, he’s goes by the name Chopper. You could say he’s committed, just check out his tattoo (pictured below).
But the award for committment goes to this beautiful lady who, despite a broken leg and crutches, still managed to Zoobomb with style.
I only did one run, but it was a great chance to see Zoobombers ride in the daylight (they usually ride at night) and snap some fun photos.
Long live Zoobomb.

Phil musta been on the hill for all of ten minutes yesterday and he gets his picture taken??? What about the rest of the actual racers? It was THEIR day!
I hear you Randy!
Believe me, I wish I was up there earlier and able to see the Century racers do their thing. That would have been awesome…it just didn’t work out that way this time.
That’s why I made this more of a general Zoobomb post as opposed to a report on the Zoobomb Century.
I don’t think they would have turned out anyway. Most cameras dont have a “faster-than-the-speed-of-light” setting. Chopper is one fast mo-fo, I couldn’t have gone any faster all day, and he maintained the 6 mile lead since the 3rd run.
it was so tight. thanks to ever one who put to gether one of the best days so far.
why randy, i’m hurt. the only reason i was snapped was cause I was on a janky 12″ that couldnt keep pace with the pack, though i am thankful to Clown House Kate for lending me her mini, hope she’s ok.
A toast to the organizer, Every Dave (100) last year’s Century Champion and all the volunteers and Centurions. This was the fastest 100 miles ever, done in about 8 hours… maybe next year someone will hit 150.
2 days later… my ass is still sore.
Sorry, Phil, I forgot one of these:
