Thanks to the fantastic folks at the Bike Gallery (serving Portland since 1974!) one lucky BikePortland reader will win this bike (or they’ll have a fantastic holiday gift for that special someone).

I will announce the winner on Monday, January 2, 2007…what a great way to start the New Year!

Check out Electra’s website and imagine yourself cruising this beautiful bike around town. Then, go to the Raffle page and buy your tickets!

It’s easy to enter. You can either use PayPal or send a check or money order made out to PedalTown Media. Address and more details on the official Raffle Page.

Thank you for your ongoing support of BikePortland.org. You’re all winners in my book.

Jonathan,

Just to verify: Is frame size set or variable with these raffles?

Thx,
Patrick

PFin,

The winner can choose whatever size, color, model, etc… they want.

Not to gripe, but another fixed gear? (I know, I know the Electra’s a three speed)..

None of these bikes do me any good where I live, commute, and ride. Hence I haven’t bought any tickets. I know your at the mercy of your donors but how about…

A cyclocross bike (yes the season is over, but nonetheless)
Some gear from a local cycle business (Shower Pass, Castelli)…
A shopping spree at a local bike shop…
Pre-paid training sessions for the summer from whoever…
Custom frame from one of the many local builders

I don’t know if I would ride that bike or put it on display in my living room, but its beautiful. I am buying a ticket…

Carl sez “3 is all ya need!”

Gears or bikes? I can make do with one gear, but lord knows I need more than three bikes – I gotta have the racer, the tourer, the commuter, the beater, the super beater, and the one I can ride in a short dress without showing my panties to the world (nice as those panties may be, and as much as the world may or may not appreciate the view), hence my purchase of many tickets for this raffle 🙂

Someone is giving away a bike in a raffle, and people bitch that it is not what they want to win.
I can’t even believe I am reading that.

Anything I can do to help Jonathan sell tickets. Well, almost anything 😉

anything, indeed.

I like, you cecil, even though I have never met you, yet.

I also like alot of people who ride bikes – including carl and “elly”.

however, I am not about decisiveness right now, I would rather see “convergence” which is a working title…understand, “cecil”?

see you all soon…but, I promised two of my teachers that I would post anymore on this site. sorry, but a promise is a promise, and, I listen to my friends…do you?

I’ve been waiting with baited breath to see it — I’ll be buying some tickets. I’m excited about the womens frame and the skirt/coat guard (for those of us who wear a little longer skirts).

A single or three speed is great for you eastside flatlanders, but it’s not going to get from the bottom of Macadam to the top of Barbur via Corbet during my commute (except by pushing it).

Splitting Lanes Is Fun- Why should I buy tickets for something I don’t want? It’s a raffle (ie completely voluntary), and I’m not really interested in the prize. I’ll but tickets, and thus support the site, only when there’s something to motivate me to buy. I’m sure there are others out there, I’m just the first to voice it.

Maybe Jonathan’s missing out one more $$$ because not everyone’s interesting single speed bikes.

Hmmmm.
Eric,.
Well, I never mentioned that you, or anyone should buy a raffle ticket.
I do however reccomend that you buy one.
I was merely pointing out that if someone is giving you an opportunity to win something nice, with a low price ticket purchase making this opportunity happen, you should either;
Jump at the oportunity to buy a handfull of tickets to win the item for yourself.
Or keep your trap shut.
It is not up to you or to anyone else to critique what is given away.
Just like past people bitching about not liking the big ads.
Suck it up.
If it was not for these things, right now you would be reading last weeks horrible Willy Week.
Some arcticles here elude, olr call for comments that are off color, or to make people think.
But a raffle for a good cause should just me left alone.
I suppose if the government gave you free american cheese to feed your family, you would turn around and try to trade them for some swiss.

And by the way, single speed is the devolution of the sport, and the real way to go.

Eric,

I like your suggestions.

I hear your pain about wanting a bike you can easily ride up hills. I’m actually not much of a singlespeed guy myself (I’ve had 5 knee surgeries, all my cartilage removed and both my ACL ligaments replaced!).

Just be patient man, I’m sure you’ll love what I’ve got planned in the coming months.

And if you don’t. That’s cool. Don’t buy a ticket unless you want to.

See you around, and thanks for commenting…sharing your opinion is another way to support this site.

Rather than plague this post with discussions about drivetrains, I’ve started a thread on the BikePortland Forums about 3-speeds and American bicyclists’ need for speed.

http://bikeportland.org/forum/showthread.php?t=653

Feel free to chime in, there (dischord is welcome).

Good luck with the raffle, Jonathan. I hope the winner lives in a flat place like Vermont though…

Jonathan – Glad you liked the suggestions, I can’t wait. Keep up great work!

Trust me – there is no flat in Vermont. It ain’t called the Green Mountain State for nothing. They may not be as tall as the Cascades, but there’s a lot of them. I definitely used more gears there than I ever have here . . .

By the way Carl,
Portland, in comparison to a lot of American cities,
is very, very flat.
Not midwest flat, but flat enough, and easy to ride.
