Catching up with Sacha White

Met with Sacha (the man behind Vanilla Bicycles) today to talk about a project we’re working on and he mentioned some very cool news.

First, he’s commissioned Dan Gillsdorf of Atlas Tattoo to design the first-ever, limited edition Vanilla Bicycles poster. I didn’t see the sketches, but Sacha says it will be in the style of a vintage, art-nouveau advertisement and will feature his wife and daughter riding on their Vanilla stepthrough city bike with the cityscape in the background and something about a flock of swallows flying around. Sounded very cool.

You can bet this will be a stunning work of art and he hopes to have them printed up in time for the holidays. I’ll post a sketch or the final design soon.

He also mentioned he’d like to take part in the BikeCraft Faire coming up on December 7th! I was stoked to hear this and we haven’t finalized it yet, but he wants to share his craft of framebuilding with everyone. He’s talking about a display that shows the craftsmanship behind building a bike frame. Sacha would be a perfect addition to the talented Portland artists already on the list.

After first offering it to Vanilla owners, he has given me the green light to share the details with a wider audience. [...]
