Report from the (all night) Sushi Ride

I’m writing from the I-205 bike path in Clackamas (I have no idea where exactly).

photo-7.jpg

The highway is speeding by and our final sushi place closed a half-hour ago. We’ve been to Tanasbourne, a stop at the Zoobomb Century in Washington Park, then a sushi-bomb of our own to Takahashi in downtown Portland. After that we stopped at Voodoo Donuts (the remnants of the dozen are still strapped to my rack) and then Stumptown Coffee before setting out for Clackamas.

Now we are lost in the I-205 triangle.

The ride started at 1:00 and it’s lasted a bit longer than we expected (understatement).

At this point, I think we’ll just find a bar and drink.

UPDATE: Check out the photo gallery of this ride (report maybe coming soon).

Hey Jonathan!
Any bananas giving out free smoothies out there in Clackamas?

I am a bit sad to have missed out on the rest of Timo\’s swan song…didn\’t the 24 hour ride already happen?

Thanks for a fun adventure! Hope y\’all come back soon!

much bike love,

Aloha Jonathan and Timo and the Sushi crew…

Leah & I made it back fine to Vancouver after separating from the sushi crew at Stumptown.

Sorry to hear that your final sushi quest failed…that you are now lost souls pedalling around the i-205 mix master…perhaps the recent construction detours have you lost and hopeless?!

Ring your bells if you pass by Vancouver as you return to PDX.

Next year we can make it a bi-state sushi ride – Van Mall/ Mill Plain/ 164th sushi loop!

Thanks again to Timo!

PS. The 2008 Pedal Palooaza Dimsum ride sounds good…though not too early of a start please.

Hey guys,
I just got home. it\’s 2:38 am. after missing our final sushi stop, we tried to bike thru a Krispy Kreme on 82nd but they were closed…so we checked the dumpster. Photos coming soon!

after krisply kreme, we rode up 82nd ave. in search of a bar. We found one and drank a few pitchers of pabst and played some pool. it was good. I made it home somehow. now I will look through my 550+ photos from the day, eat some food, then sleep…

I LOVE THIS RIDE!! I appreciate the free form nature of it. The flow. The stop at the ZB Century. The random doughnut and coffee stop. The long delays. Getting lost in strip mall parking lots. Being together with a crew of cyclists for unexpected hours. Picking up new people along the way.

This is one of my favorite pedalpalooza rides ever. Thanks Timo + Crew!

Whew! Everyone made it home. I\’m so relieved.
Thanks all for joining me on the Metro-wide 12hours of Sushi Fathers Day Worst Routes of Everywhere Zoobomb Pub Crawl Kaiten-Donut Mystery Mostly Legal Ride. Thanks for waiting and thanks for being up for anything, since that\’s what we found. But most of all, thanks for making this ride Epic.
To everyone from Team Which MAX Train? to Team Hardcore, my hashi are raised in salute to you.

If you guys went to the Clackamas Krispy Kreme last night, you were mere minutes away from me! My open arms could have protected the lot of you from the nasty strip mall jungle of 82nd.

Originally I intended to come on the ride, but was helping out at PINK and forgot until about 3:30pm. Dang.

Whew…..I\’m still hung over from all that Zushi….
Yes this was Truely an epic ride. More traffic barriors and cyclone fences were climbed (bikes in hand) than on any other ride. There\’s alot of closed an \”detour this way\’ MUPs out there, and we opened them. (purely for zushi zeeking perposes.)

Then last last stop, a bar called Tired Feet (practically in Ashland) That fed us fried potato nigiri ztyle-zushi until the SapPBRo kegs ran dry.

Getting to bed at 3am is certainly good for my samuri complexion, and some people job performance evaluation (planned for today).

Given that it was bad sushi (from Sushiland on 14th & Weidler–beware!) that laid me out with food poisoning just after the kick off parade, nothing could have convinced me to go on this ride.

The chocolate ride was more my speed (and so tasty!). I\’m glad y\’all had a good time though.
