Video: ‘The stupidest bike lane?’

Posted by Jonathan Maus (Editor) on April 7th, 2008 at 8:38 am

This video from a Slate V reporter in Los Angeles takes you on a ride through the “stupidest bike lane”. It’s been circulating around the bike blogosphere for a week or so now.

Check it out below:

What’s the stupidest bike lane you’ve ever experienced?

There are definitely some shorter ones around town, but I dunno about more stupid.

I've seen similar to this around here but I'm guessing he's using this primarily to bait others to join in with their own Stupid Bike Lane vids. Gotta get me a helmet cam.

Hmmm... This guy should have filmed the intermittent bike lane(s) on NW Front/Naito.

I have done a fair amount of biking in LA, and there are tons of stupid bike lanes that end like that. Amazing.

Some Las Vegas streets will put you right
into a car lane. I rode 4 years in the town. ( Ohh and the cars are doing 50mph
    or faster. )

Southbound Greeley between Going and Interstate.

You have to cross a lane of traffic twice. Once as cars are cresting a blind hill - with no warning that cyclists must cross.
The other at the base of an I-5 on ramp.

    It's suicide at rush hour.

Heading north on Milwaukee ave just leaving Brooklyn there is a bike lane that runs for about 100 yards as you approach Powell, then it just ends. It's even been re-painted recently.
