Ready or not, Cycle Oregon here I come

The view from my bike last year.

It hasn’t really sunk in yet, but tomorrow morning I’ll be in a car, driving to Sisters for the start of Cycle Oregon.

It’s the 20th anniversary of the ride and the route looks spectacular. I’ll join 2,000+ other folks for an adventure that will take us on a loop from Sisters, south through La Pine, up (and around) Crater Lake and then back to Sisters via Dorena Lake and Oakridge.

Like last year, I’ll be posting dispatches and photos from the road. I’ll try to bring you stories about the people, places, and quirks that make Cycle Oregon such a unique event.

Taking a break at Anthony Lakes.

I haven’t trained one lick for the 481 miles of riding and many thousands of feet of climbing that await. But even if it’s tough, I’m still looking forward to the open roads. My brain is feeling a bit fried after a long summer of writing and working hard to keep this site going.

Nothing against Portland, but I need some time away.

That being said, I’ll still keep the home fires burning (gotta’ keep those advertisers happy) and I’ll still be publishing non Cycle Oregon stories from the road as time, energy, and logistics permit.

If you’re doing the ride, good luck, and I’ll see you at camp.

I think they've got the best route ever this year. I'm sure it will be a blast!

Have fun Jonathan! You deserve it. And it can be a good training for cross...
I did part of the last day leg earlier this summer and it is fantastic. Looking forward to some pictures.
