Major burglary hits hard for bike industry veteran

Dave Hemming, a 35 year-old bicycle industry veteran who works for Marin Bicycles, just moved to Portland a month ago.
He and his wife Molly moved all their belongings into their southeast Portland home on February 25th and then finished up some business back in northern California.
On Saturday March 10th, while they were still in California, their home was completely ransacked and burglarized.
“It’s just insane, they took so much…it’s such a harsh introduction to Portland.”
Dave hopes the eyes of the Portland bike community can help him track down some of his lost items, especially his UCI World Championship medal he won for downhill racing in 1990. The medal has a white ribbon and the signature rainbow colors.
Along with old family jewelry, electronics, and other household items, the bicycle-related items to keep our eyes open for include:
- A full Dainese body armor set (for downhill mountain biking)
- Five CamelBak hydration packs (fanny pack, TransAlp models)
- A “huge” amount of cycling clothing, mostly Pearl Izumi brand
The burglary occurred on March 10th, on the 3700 block of SE Franklin Street near SE 39th and SE Powell. If you have any information please contact Dave at davehemming[at]marinbikes[dot]com.

That's terrible. I hope you will be able to recover your things. Keep an eye out on Ebay, Craigslist, and the local pawn shops. You can also use a tool that will search all the cities of Craigslist:

Sorry for your loss! I live in that neighborhood too and will definitely keep my eyes peeled for your gear. The tip from the poster above might be the best bet for turning up some of your stuff.

I'm really sorry to hear about the burglary. Having just had our shop hit earlier this month and my home hit a couple of months ago, I can kind of understand.

Geez - this kind of stuff really chaps my hide. No one deserves the disrespect of burglary, and when irreplacable sentimental item are taken it especially bugs. Dave - sorry you've had this happened to you.

Sorry to hear of the bad news!
If you want to get nostalgic I've still got the team RTS 1 you built for me in the early 90's back here in the UK. Remember the MBUK days at Penshurst?
I'm just taking up riding again and figured I need a new full susser so the RTS sadly has to go to eBay heaven!
I hope you get your stuff back.
