Mississippi Street Fair, Portland OR
[North Portland BikeWorks]

North Portland BikeWorks is a collectively run, non-profit bike shop located on Mississippi Street.

Besides having one of the best collections of bike zines in the city, they also offer programs that reach out to the community, kids, and women and transgendered cyclists.

Founder Kim Fey recently told me about their two upcoming bike maintenance workshops for beginners:

“The workshop is designed for beginners and will include a basic overview of your bike, bike terminology, learning how to change a flat and patch a tube, a safety check, routine maintenance of your bike and will allow ample time for questions. Please bring your bike so you can get to know it better!”

Here are the details:

North Portland BikeWorks
3951 N. Mississippi Ave.
Thursday Oct. 26 or Thursday Nov. 9th
6:30 – 8:30
Sliding Scale $15 – 25
Six people per class

Kim says pre-registration is required so call BikeWorks at (503) 287-1098, or stop by the shop Monday-Saturday 11–6:00 to reserve your spot.
