BikePortland.org now available in ten languages

Posted by Jonathan Maus (Editor) on October 9th, 2006 at 12:01 pm

[Chinese anyone?]

I’m happy to announce that this site is now available in ten languages.

Thanks to a nifty Wordpress plug-in that uses Google and Alta Vista’s Babelfish software, you can now easily read this site in any of the following languages: German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Chinese.

My initial impetus for adding this feature was to offer a Spanish version of ISharetheRoad.com. Since that site is a product of the City of Portland, we wanted to make it accessible to as much of the community as possible.

Click the links above or scroll to the bottom of the right sidebar and try it for yourself.

…and stay tuned for another cool new feature I hope to have running in the next few days…

Vielen vielen Dank, aber ich muss zugestehen, dass saemtliche Links anscheinend kaputt sind. Kannst Du irgendwie nachschauen, was da los ist?

(Very very cool, but all links (incl. to expanded entries) seem to be broken?)

Congratulations! I hope that "Rainy City Much Happiness of Honorable Bicycle Riders Weblog" is a big hit in Japan.

    Ciao Jonathan!
This is very funny! I started laughing so hard when I saw how they translated Cross Crusade in italian. And you can only immagine the translation for: Dropout Weekday Warrior Ride!
Awesome feature anyway, I alway send links of article to my friends in Italy, now they can read it in italian.
    Ciao
    Paolo

Try the site in the Dialectizer. Still my favorite translation site out there. http://www.rinkworks.com/dialect/dialectp.cgi?dialect=fudd&url=http%3A%2F%2Fbikeportland.org%2F2006%2F10%2F09%2Fbikeportlandorg-now-available-in-ten-languages%2F
