Bike N’ Hike, Giant partner with BTA

The Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA) has scored a huge win for kids in Oregon and Southwest Washington by securing 323 new bicycles for use in their Bicycle Safety Education programs. The highly discounted bikes were acquired from Giant Bicycles through a deal brokered by local bike retailer Bike N’ Hike. Bike N’ Hike, who was recently named a “Top 100″ retailer in the country, also assembled the bikes at no cost.

According to the BTA’s Youth Programs Coordinator, Anna Scalera:
“Without this partnership, we would have been scrambling to find enough bikes for the program. Now we have brand new Giant bikes that will be fun for the kids to ride and provide a safe learning tool.”
The BTA’s Youth Bicycle Safety Education curriculum emphasizes proper helmet fitting, rules of the road, right of way concepts, and on-bike skills. Funding for the program comes from a variety of sources, including federal, state and local governments, bike clubs, businesses, hospitals and medical societies, individual donations, schools, and parents.
