Microcosm party to feature bike documentaries, workshops

Martinis in the bike lane movie

Microcosm Publishing is having a 10th birthday party this weekend and they’ve got some good bikey fun lined up.

On Sunday night company founder Joe Biel will debut his 11-minute documentary, “Martinis in the Bike Lane,” which is a history of Portland’s unique bike lane markings. Joe asked BikePortland.org readers for input when he began work on this film back in November.

Immediately following will be a free screening of “Still We Ride.” This 37 minute film documents the shocking-but-true relationship between New York City cops and cyclists.

Workshops on the schedule include “Basic bicycle maintenance” from 11AM-1PM on Saturday and “How to make pannier buckets” from 12-12:30.

Full schedule here

Events take place in the basement of 311 N. Ivy Street in Portland.

It's hilarious to come here and be curious about recent news items and be mentioned in the first one. Small town, eh?

....But you totally forgot "Winking Circle" which is also playing as part of Sunday's program of bicycle videos. It's a great inspirational bit to check out what kinds of exciting things are being done by teenagers in suburban Ontario....with bikes and Super 8!

Lots of other inevitably bikey shit this weekend!
