They've performed all over Portland and next year they're looking to spread their message of fun feminism through funky dance moves outside our borders. You can [...]

This morning Sara Stout and I moved two kegs of beer for tonight's Bike Film Night from Widmer Brewing on N. Russell to the Clinton Street Theater in SE.

It was pretty awesome to see the reaction from the folks at Widmer. They couldn't believe what we were doing. [...]

Stolen: black TAKARA road bike

Friday, November 18th, 2005

Some lowlife stole my bike off of my porch last night. Although this bike was not worth much (if anything), it was my only means of transportation.
It's fairly easy to spot. I've not seen another Takara ever in town and this one will stand out to anyone who's looking. It's an all black road bike [...]

Stats confirm bike theft problem

Friday, November 18th, 2005

Bike theft is on the rise. I had 20 stolen bikes listed on this site in October alone. And from what I've heard, the thieves are getting more and more brazen, sawing racks in half, taking the entire rack with them, and even coming into homes while the victim sleeps just [...]

Tickets and trackstands

Thursday, November 17th, 2005

After Wednesday's traffic enforcement action, there was some confusion about ticket amounts and whether or not a trackstand (when a cyclist stops, but keeps their feet in the pedals) qualified as a "complete stop" in the eyes of the fuzz.
Traffic division Commander Bill Sinnott wants to clear up the confusion...

"Surprising" results from enforcement action

Wednesday, November 16th, 2005

In response to complaints of cyclists running stop signs, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) ran a traffic enforcement action at SE 26th and Clinton streets this morning. An enforcement action is sort of like a sting, except the cops put out cones and flags announcing it in all directions. They also publicized the [...]

The feature presentation will be "Still We Ride," a documentary [...]

Alan Koch; Super-retiree

Monday, November 14th, 2005

Just wanted to make sure everyone reads this article by Margie Boule in Sunday's Oregonian. It's about a retiree named Alan Koch. For his 65th birthday he got a new Bianchi and is in the process of riding his bike on every street in Portland. That is awesome.
It reminds me [...]

[Sacha's new sign]
Met with Sacha (the man behind Vanilla Bicycles) today to talk about a project we're working on and he mentioned some very cool news.
First, he's commissioned Dan Gillsdorf of Atlas Tattoo to design the first-ever, limited edition Vanilla Bicycles poster. I didn't see the sketches, but Sacha says it will [...]
