Harvest Century
Volunteer at the 5th Annual Harvest Century, October 7, 2007, a benefit bicycle ride for Community Vision.
We are expecting some 1,000 riders to traverse over three, looped routes on spectacular country roads in Yamhill and Washington Counties. The start and finish are at Historic Champoeg Park. Come volunteer, have fun, support a great ride and get great stuff. cotton short-sleeved t-shirt, lunch from Taco Del Mar and a Rogue Ale at the finish line party. (And for those interested, a voucher to ride free in 2008!)
We need you at registration & the finish line party, both at Champoeg State Park, the following rest-stops (Canby Ferry, Hillside Bible Church, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Ewing Young Elementary & Magness Tree Farm) and SAG drivers. We could also use a hand before the event and after.
Register to volunteer on-line at our new website.

Corporations focus on local bike businesses
promotional photo. Watch video below.
Two corporations have recently noticed a pair of small, Portland-based bike businesses.
Shaun Deller of Recyclist Apparel (maker of those stylish cycling caps you see all over town) is featured in a video produced by Nau (a clothing company) and Natalie Ramsland of Sweetpea Bicycles was selected by Hewlett Packard as a case study for their small business services.
Stolen Huffy Unknown
The bike is a pretty basic mountain-bike-esque style (ladies frame). It is teal with yellow accents and yellow brake lines and has a rack on the back.

Bike projects eligible for System Development Charge funding
Some major bike projects have made the final list of projects that are eligible for a new list of Transportation System Development Charges (TSDCs) that will go in front of City Council next week.
Another reason to fashion ourselves after Copenhagen
A year ago, I shared a video about Copenhagen that I said, “perfectly illustrates the goals and visions that Portland’s bike advocates are striving for.”
This morning I came across yet another bit of visual inspiration from the “City of Cyclists”; it’s a photo-blog called Cycle Chic – Copenhagen Girls on Bikes.
Here’s how the blog’s creator — film director and photographer Mikael Colville-Andersen — describes it:
Stolen Trek 1000
A white aluminum trek frame with verticle dropouts modded to single speed with flipflop on rear wheel. Red bontrager tires, red bar tape on horns-type bars, red chain. Brake for front wheel mounted on left side of bars for left-handed rider, red brake cable.

Road rage victim gets new bike from KGW viewer
KGW reports that Timothy Mastne — one of two victims of a road rage incident earlier this month — got a new bike today.
KGW reporter Jane Smith says Mastne picked the bike up from River City Bicycles this morning. A Seattle couple wanted to buy the bike for Mastne after seeing KGW’s interview with him that was aired on August 19th.
According to KGW, Mastne’s road rash is nearly healed, but he still walks with a limp due to swollen legs. Here’s a quote from him that aired on TV today:
Peep’s Ride
Hello, fellow Summer cyclists!
Hey, interested in going for a safe, mellow, family-friendly ride through a few (mostly) S.E. Portland neighborhoods on Friday, August 31st, and (hopefully) spreading a little joy and bikey good will along the way? Bubble machines and kidlets are *very* welcome!!! Let’s meet up outside of Palio on the big circle in Ladd’s Addition starting at 5:45 p.m., and kick off *promptly* at 6:15 p.m. If you want to wear something fun, bright, and/or outlandish, just go for it – whatever makes you happy!!! Come on out and celebrate summer! :o)
If you have any questions, or some new and exciting route suggestions, please let me know! If you’re up for a bit of rabble-rousing, well, I’m sure there are plenty of other rides you could be a part of. ;o) Thanks!
Palio’s address is 1996 SE Ladd, in case you don’t already know! Welcome!
Peace and Blessings,
~ Misha :o*

This ride focuses on studying “the different forms and manifestations of graffiti”. It all started as a PedalPalooza ride back in June:
The ride was well attended, there was a alot of great discussion and even a few followup rides.
With Summer coming to a close, most of our friends running around the desert naked, and the recent press coverage it’s high time for Graff Ride II.
