Bike theft roundup: Stolen SoupCycle, unscrewed staple, and a suspect seller – UPDATED

Got a few bike theft stories that deserve some attention so I figured I’d round them up.
We all know bike thieves are mean; but they are also getting increasingly clever. Marion Rice sent in a photo of the bike parking staple her daughter’s bike was parked to outside their daycare. The thief (or thieves) unscrewed the rack and took the bike. This isn’t a big surprise to us, as we’ve covered the unscrewing method in the past.

Over the last two years Rousculp developed the Kid’s ‘Cross events and Bikes Mean Business program at the BTA. Both programs provide opportunities for the bike industry to work directly with advocacy on the ground in a collaborative and compelling way.

The Bicycle Transportation Alliance is a non-profit membership organization working to promote bicycling and improve bicycling conditions in Oregon. Since 1990, the BTA has worked in partnership with citizens, businesses, community groups, government agencies, and elected officials to create communities where people can meet their daily transportation needs on a bike.

New options on the table for Foster streetscape plan

Please welcome our new contributing writer, Tyler Pell. This is his first report.
The fourth Stakeholder Advisory Committee meeting for the Foster Streetscape Plan was held last week, with new proposals presented to the SAC as well as a redevelopment project known as the “Green Link.”
The “Foster freeway” as it’s locally known, has been due for safety improvements for many years. As we recently reported, a new streetscape plan is being drawn up and $3.25 million in safety improvements has already been obtained via federal grants and other funding sources. The City Council will adopt a new plan for Foster sometime in the next year, but the specific road design will depend on how the the stakeholder advisory committee is steered in the coming months (among the many proposals on the table is the Foster Road Bikeway plan).
