This menu of delicious rides and events is brought to you by our friends at Hopworks Urban Brewery. Their support makes BikePortland possible.

I’m happy to finally be able to report that the heat wave is over! This weekend we’re finally getting a reprieve from 90-degree temps and the riding weather should be perfect.

The ride calendar is pretty light this week, so that means you’ve just got to be creative and think of your own adventures.

Have fun out there!

Friday, July 10th

Oregon State Track Championships – Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Alpenrose Velodrome (6149 SW Shattuck Rd)
The Oregon Bicycle Racing Association will crown 10 new state champions at this three-day event. The action will be fast and furious with sprints, pursuits, time trials, and more. $10 per event to enter, or just come out and watch. More info here.

Midnight Mystery Ride – 11:59 pm at C Bar (2880 SE Gladstone)
Join this monthly social ride where you’re all but guaranteed to have an adventure and meet some excellent people. More info here.

Saturday, July 11th

Portland Velo Saturday Ride – 10:00 am at Evergreen Office Park in Hillsboro (22985 NW Evergreen Pkwy)
Portland Velo is one of the largest bike clubs in the region. Their weekly ride is led by an experienced rider who will show you a 35-50 loop. Split into groups depending on fitness level and explore Washington County. More info here.

Seattle-to-Portland (STP) Ride – All weekend
Too late to register, but this huge classic annual ride still merits a mention. Organizers expect around 10,000 will ride from Seattle to Portland, so don’t be alarmed when you see them all streaming into town. Roll down to Holladay Park in the Lloyd District for the big party on Sunday. More info here.

Cycle Oregon Weekend Ride – All weekend
This ride is all booked up too, but I’m including it so you know what’s up when your friends start talking about it. This is Cycle Oregon’s mini-version of their big Week Ride that happens each September. This year’s “Camp Cycle Oregonnadogood” will base out of Western Oregon University in Monmouth. More info here

Sunday, July 12th

BikeLoudPDX General Meeting – 3:00 pm at Grant Park (NE 33rd and Thompson)
Show up and learn more about one of Portland’s grassroots bike activism groups. Topics will likely include diverters on SE Clinton, “die-ins”, police enforcement, and whatever ideas you bring. More info here

Larch Mountain uphill time trial is Sunday. Great beginner race if you like to tackle a big hill by yourself. Details at obra.org.

I’m interested in the Midnight Mystery Ride. Following the FB link is marked as being either removed or a closed audience. If it is restricted to a specific group of riders, why is it being listed herein? Is there a non-tacit contact for info about this ride?

There is an MMR wordpress site: https://midnightmysteryride.wordpress.com/

See their “about” page.

I’ve only been a participant, but the ride is open to anyone who conducts themselves with arguably reasonable behavior (given the circumstances).

We’re so thrilled to be hosting Cycle Oregon today. People have started rolling in and I couldn’t be happier to share our town with so many fun-loving cyclists.
