A few last-minute notes about BikeCraft

Nice huh? See more from Portland-based
Truce Designs at BikeCraft (Sunday only).

I’m about to head down to 15 NE Hancock to help JR and a crew of volunteers put the finishing touches on the BikeCraft venue (the big event starts tomorrow at 10:00 am). Before I sign off for the day, I wanted to share a few final notes…

New Vendors!
— Local bag maker Truce Designs. Luke’s bags are made from recycled materials (like old sails) and they have a waterproof “floating drop liner” which make them great for biking in Portland. NOTE: Truce will only be vending on Sunday.

— Also coming out to share his skills is John “Dutch” Paglia of Body by Bike (Facebook link). Dutch is a chiropractor who makes house calls and offers mobile bodycare from his tall bike. He’ll be giving free, 10 minute massages throughout the day.

— We’re excited to welcome Pedal Kettle, makers of hot and fresh, bike-powered kettle corn!

— Also providing happiness for your tummy will be samples and goodies from Whole Foods and B-Line PDX.

Door Prizes!
Have I mentioned that we’ll be giving stuff away? Thanks to our great vendors who have offered door prizes and to locally-based Leatherman Tool Company, you’ll have a chance to win all sorts of great stuff — from bike jewelry to bike bags. Leatherman donated two Skeletools, which make for ultimate multi-tools for all you adventurers out there.

The event is really coming together.

Your assignment for the rest of today and tomorrow morning is to review the vendor profiles and other news we’ve shared so far, study up on the Vendor List, and — this is important — tell as many friends, neighbors, co-workers as you can about it. BikeCraft is only as great as the crowds that show up!

Thanks everyone. Hope to see many of you this weekend.

For those who don’t know him, Dutch is an amazing person, and my #1 choice in town for therapeutic corrective body work. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty in the war against my tense and achy muscles. But man does he suck at backgammon…
