Summer seems to have finally arrived for good and there’s a lot going on this weekend. Use this post to share your bike fun, plans, and adventures with the rest of us.

Many of you are yet to wake up after last night’s Midnight Mystery Ride, but once you do, consider rolling over to the Mississippi Ave Street Fair which happens today (Saturday) from 10am – 9pm. The Night Ride is also happening tonight. It’s an illuminated party on wheels that’s expected to attract about 2,000 people. They’ll be taking over the streets starting at 9pm.

Tomorrow, there’s a ride for Star Trek lovers and a Sunset Mystery Ride that’s sure to please. Out on the track at Alpenrose, this weekend is the OBRA Track Championships. Grab a sun hat and enjoy some track racing action.

If you’re inside and feel like catching up on stories from the past week, that’d be fine too. There are lots of interesting discussions still going on (see the Hot Topics in the sidebar).

Whatever you end up doing in this fantastic weather, I hope you have a great weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday.

Oh sweet springwater,
Long have I neglected you,
Oh long and liquid chipseal river-
Sliding through darkness gaining,
Caressed your curves and watched
The lights of Portland gather,
The long decline to Sellwood,
The Oak park neon brilliant,
Rushing wind where river meets you.

hey that Springwater re-paving is fantastic. Now it’s wider and I have more change to spot the bums trying to jump out at me.

How far along are they with the repaving project? I’ve been avoiding it until they are done…

If you plan on going to Trek in the Park- (IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT) get there by 4pm to get a seat, and bring something to eat/ read.

Had a great ride around Sauvie Island from north Portland. Was cloudy when we rolled out but sun broke through eventually. A gorgeous ride…felt good to put the spandex suit on!

Did The Night Ride. It was fun, but it was no World Naked Bike Ride.

Gotta say that it was less than stellar with no corking allowed and the ride started by trying to go through the both the transit mall and Old Town to get to the steel. Not a wise choice when the southern sidewalk of the Broadway was still open. Some of the signage was unclear near then end, we had to pull out the route map to make sure we were still en route.

Re: Night Ride — I get why people go on these supported and expensive rides at first, because I did. It’s a great way to get the feeling that you can ride anywhere in the city, and feel like you’re not a solitary rider. Then I found out that other rides do it so much better, like MMR. Couple of years ago, I went on the Night Ride again, and after less than half a mile of annoying stop-and-start through intersections, I bailed.

My friends and I rode the Night Ride (with Dia de Los Muertos faces – maybe you saw us!). It was a great time. Some of my friends are new to riding so the ride was really good for us. Not too long, maps to follow the streets and a number to call for help. I had a great time at the disco but I have to wonder… do people really shop at that store? the MLK Fashionista Plaza?
