Well, not exactly.
But reports are coming in that the Willamette Week (a free weekly newspaper in Portland) is running radio ads touting their new re-design and that one of them features a Zoobomber as the voiceover.
I haven’t heard it myself, but here’s how one tipster remembers it:
“I heard it on 95.5 (I stopped listening for several months after the unfortunate incident, and I never listen to that stupid “playhouse” show), anyways…
…a man comes on and says something along the lines of “before we designed the new look for the Willamette Week, we consulted some real Portlanders. We even talked to a Zoobomber.”Then, some dopey sounding guy comes on and says “When you are flying down a hill on a bike made for a six year-old you gotta make sure you shit is tight, yo!” (they bleeped out the swear word).”
The ad has become a topic on the Zoobomb Forum where reactions so far seem to be mixed. Some are calling on a WWeek boycott, others say it’s just a gag and should be forgotten.
Have you heard the ad? What do you think?
Thanks for reading.

Willamette Week sucks anyway. Read the Portland Mercury!
I agree with one of the comments on the WW site.
The new logo resembles that of Waste Management.
…or something similar to that of an eastern bloc communist manifesto.
Plus Storm Large on the cover? Give me a break…cutting edge crap WW.
Congratulations Zoobomb! You are now officially Portland \”establishment\” – loved, hated, admired, reviled, and gently lampooned by and for the masses. This practically legitimizes your activities and makes you about as edgy as a Tom Potter policy notion.
What\’s next-some smooth voiced DJ announcing Zoobomb rides on the KINK Calendar or to soccer moms on Smooth Jazz 106.7?
Ha-Haaaa!!!
nothing but good times and great oldies here at the zoobomb institution of fun.
wow, the WW is trying to young up their image a bit, and i guess zoobomb is the \”hip\” thing. their ad should really go for interviews with Subaru drivers, new age healers, and Doggy Daycare customers, since that seems to be their demographic. btw. zoobomb had nothing to do with this. we have always been anti-consumerism.

I, too, was struck by the Russian Constructivist look of the new logo- the difference being that I like the Constructivists, and I hate the new log.

Hey, if it weren\’t for doggie daycare, my dogs would be even more nuts than they already are. I\’d love to be able to play with my dogs all day every day but paying the mortgage gets in the way. At least this way they each get one day a week of all out play with other dogs. If that makes me bougie, so be it. My dogs are happy, and that\’s what matters 🙂
Finally, I think the more interesting aspect of the WW revamp was the blatent attempt to out-Mercury The Mercury with that absolutely inane article about \”sphincter bleaching,\” as they put it. Of course, had the Mercury run such an article, they would have sent one of their reporters to habe it done, rather than simply ask questions about it. Either way, it was, and would be, a waste of paper.
Bleaching the skin around the anus is real. Strippers do it.
Cecil, you seem to think I don\’t like the Constructivists. Not really. Don\’t know much about them actually. The font just looks like something used in those eastern bloc propaganda posters. Funny, I thought. Where WW is concerned, it probably doesn\’t represent any significant commitment, but rather, a purely stylistic statement. Something to try be hip and cool, even in the absence of substance to back it up.
Maybe the paper is toying with the idea of venturing out on some kind of \”cutting edge\”, even though they seem to have given that up long ago, perhaps out of consideration for the tender sensibilities of their more conservative readership.
Spincter bleaching? Haven\’t read the article. Probably wont. Sounds kind of nauseating. Worse even than the article WW did some years back about female ejaculatory discharge volume. On that one though, at least had to give the article props for educational value.
wsbob, I had no intent to imply that you don\’t appreciate the Constructivist movement- the \”difference\” to which I referred was merely a comparison between MY appreciation of that artform and MY dislike of the WW logo. The reference to your comment was simply to confirm that I was not the only person that saw the resemblance (even if you were not making a direct statement about the Constructivists, many of those poster to which you referred were their work)
And per SkidMark\’s comment. I have no doubt that anal bleaching is real – I just don\’t think it\’s interesting enough to waste my time reading about it.
Cecil, I can see what you\’re saying now.
Re; strippers and bleaching. It\’s pathetic that they feel, or are made to feel that they\’ve got to do that.
