It’s opening day for Pedalpalooza and things get off to a fast start. Here’s a list of today’s events.

SCRAP THURSDAY

2:00pm, Every Thursday from 2 – 4pm
Come look through the Community Cycling Center’s scrap metal trailer and come away with armloads of bike parts and bikes for only $5 per load/frame!

BUCKS FOR BMX

3702 SE Hawthorne, Portland (Bagdad Theater)
5:00pm, doors open at 5:00 , movie starts at 6:30
A benefit movie night at the Bagdad to raise $ for the new Glenhaven skate/BMX park. Featured movie is “Joe Kid on a Sting-Ray: The History of BMX”. Pre-movie fun includes raffle tickets, memorabilia displays, new bikes displays and more. Tickets are available at any Bike Gallery location – $12 general admission; $25 VIP Pass (includes reserved seating, VIP gift, and raffle ticket). Advance ticket sales start 4/3/06 – limited seating available. ALL proceeds benefit the skate/bmx park.

Calling the uninitiated, the intimidated and the brave of heart! The People’s Republic of Polo invites you to hit the courts for low-impact bike polo antics. Bring yourself– instruction, bikes, mallets, and snacks are provided.

I can’t wait for the Kickass parade! Now, I realize, I should have put more thought into my bike costume, but I’m hoping a visit to the dollar store will give me the direction I need…

I’m so sad I have to work tonight and miss the parade! I was looking forward to the ride. Everybody kick ass a little extra tonight!
