Day One of the Oregon Bike Summit is in the books.
With a focus on the legislative agenda, summit attendees got a crash course in lobbying. Tomorrow we start bright and early with a bike ride with state legislators. Then, it will be time to storm the capitol to meet with our representatives and sharpen our advocacy tools at a variety of breakout sessions.

That really is a crappy bike parking area at the capitol. You’d think they were stuffing two unwanted groups off to the side together!
Love the irony of the bike parking in the smoking area…so much for healthy activity. 🙂

The bike parking area in the slideshow was at the Oregon conference center. there was a whole conference room inside the building where people were stashing their bikes.
The capital has couple of ancient (swear they looked to have been forged in the 1920’s)looking bike rides to either side of the North steps.
Johnathan, thanks for covering this Bike Summit – really woulda been cool to see more grassroots representation – but oh well, maybe next time, eh?

There was a whole lot of stuff in the break out sessions, and the main presentations… Was a great chance to network with decision makers, land managers, and others working to promote, enhance, expand, and do good things for biking (all types).
