Bike Porn returns to Portland — are you ready?

Portland’s famed film provocateur, Reverend Phil Sano (aka Revphil), is at it again.

On June 13th at the Clinton Street Theater, he’ll debut Bike Porn 2: bikexploitation. He just posted a preview which you can watch here (I would embed the video but…umm…I decided not to. Watch it and I think you’ll understand why (warning: not safe for work)).

It’s been just about one year since Revphil first steamed things up with his swanky, cycling-inspired cinematic soirees. After that raunchy debut, Revphil took his Bike Porn on the road and now bike lovers across North America will never look at their bikes quite the same way again.

The call for submissions poster.

This year, Bike Porn 2: bikexploitation will premiere on the first Friday of Pedalpalooza (one night before the World Naked Bike Ride) and will be followed by a 300-themed Spartan/toga ride that will meet up with the Midnight Mystery Ride the same night.

Revphil once told me that, “My hope is that if we keep biking fun and sexy the underlying awesomeness will take root.” Pornography as a way to show the “awesomeness” of biking? For some that might be a stretch, but for others it’s as natural as falling in lust with a two-wheeled temptress.

I actually really really want to see this–I was at the very first one, and I loved it so much, and it\’s part of what made me the bike-obsessed person I am now–but with the event so publicized and that theater so small….there\’s no way in HELL I\’ll get in!!

I love Clinton Street Theater too, but either there needs to be more showings, or he needs to use a bigger theater.

A larger theater would be nice…but then again \’size does not matter\’.

Part of the energy of these film events is the waiting outside with friends or new friends hoping for tickets – the \’carnavel atmosfear\’.

I worry that Filmed By Bike has lost some of that energy by folks attending other nights.

The Clinton Street Theater is such a good hhome for the bike culture…if it were not for more folks coming out with their inner bikie success.

It would almost take the Bagdad to house this family…if the McM bros would \’tear down that wall\’ and unite the mini cinemas or export the event to a underused larger theatre – like the Kiggins in the 666couv?. Poor Mayor Pollard…what would he do if either film event made it to the couv?

Thanks jonathan!

And thanks to eveyone for all your support. I hope we can live up to the engorged expectations we set last year.

We have submissions from Seattle, Brooklyn NY, Columbus OH, Santa Cruz CA, and more.

I really hope lots of people take part in the ride afterward… FOR SPARTA!!!
