The BTA just announced that Evan Manvel is leaving the organization.

Manvel served two years as the Executive Director and oversaw considerable growth and change during his tenure.

From the BTA Blog:

“It’s been a thrill to see the BTA grow, and biking in Portland and around the state grow with it,” said Manvel. “Many thanks go out to our members, our volunteers, our staff, and our Board of Directors for contributing to that success.”

Citing the gorgeous Oregon summer, Manvel says he plans to take a life sabbatical before deciding what to do next. “While I’ve celebrated my retirement before, I don’t think I’ll call this retirement. People might stop believing me,” Manvel said.

Evan Manvel –

Most of us ride our bikes every day – we have lots of opinions and all too often quite a bit of complaining and griping but have little time remaining to seriously advocate with government and other special interest groups beyond the level of emailing. To you and those who make this a full time job and really make a difference at the end of the day- thank you thank you thank you. Good luck with whatever you do next.
