Work on bike stuff for TriMet

Our friends over at TriMet are looking for some help with their bike facilities and other bike-related projects.
They just listed a want ad for a Bike Programs Intern. Here’s the job description:
- “Assist in the development of a TriMet bicycle facilities master plan. Collect, research and evaluate bike, bike parking and bike rider information; make recommendations for bike use and facility improvements. Assist in planning for bike-related events…”

Sounds like a very interesting gig. The only bummer is that it's temporary and you have to be a full-time student in urban planning to apply.

Well they certainly need help. Here's what happened to me yesterday. The airport max was not working, and the blue line was intermittent. I attempted to board the blue max as it arrived. Several doors were crowded, but I found some space at the front step-up car. As I went toward it, the trimet official (from the other end) told me I couldn't board. As he arrived he said that I couldn't put a bike against the driver door. I said I would put it alongside the door (where there's a bike area). He said that I couldn't because there were people standing there (which he wouldn't have been able to see from back there). Missing that train, I waited 30 min before giving up and taking a bus. Since this and other instances of bikers getting kicked off, I will no longer promote Trimet in any way.
