Eastside Ride of Silence

Posted by Jonathan Maus (Editor) on May 7th, 2007 at 1:05 pm

What:
We will be visiting ghost bikes in NE and SE Portland to honor bicycle riders who have been killed. This is a slow, silent ride. Children are welcome if they can ride smoothly in a group, or if they are in trailers or on trailabikes. Riders are encouraged to wear black armbands and bring flowers or other items to leave at ghost bikes. There will be brief talking at the start and the end of the ride. This ride is in association with the Washington Bicycle Transportation Coalition's Beaverton Ride of Silence.
Where:
Start location: 1700 NE Alberta End location: SE Stark and 26th

In memory of Nancy: Summer of 2001 Nancy Wernert died at the intersection of NE 37th and Sandy Blvd. An early victim of the right hook syndrome. May it never happen again. May it be that no other family or friends be put through such pain. May we ride in silent remembrance. Flowers placed at freeway entrance in memory of a lost life. Join us.
