- More Info:
- We live in the city of bikes, roses, books, and last but not least BEER. Join us for the December's Small Museums and Collections Bike tour as we explore the theme of Craft Beer in Portland. It's part pub crawl, part history & museums and part urban adventure (you know, Shawn g's knowledgeable rides). This ride is hosted by Deepak - a good beer snob and pedalpalooza pub crawl leader & Carye Bye - your regular host and director of the Bathtub Art Museum ( www.bathtubmuseum.org) We'll start out at the Rose & Raindrop on SE Grand. With over three dozen beers on tap lining the walls, the pub/restaurant offers a grand selection of local craft brews on tap. Sure there are others like the Horse Brass & Produce Row but It's important we visit this one, because as of Dec 31st this public house will be closed. The lease has not been renewed. Since the building was built in 1890 (one of the oldest commercial buildings still standing), it has been many things: a funeral parlor, vaudeville theatre, nickelodeon, laundry, furniture store, a restaurant, and now is rumored to become a bank. Also it is rumored to be haunted. Feel free to come early (after 12:30) to meet the hosts for lunch or an imperial pint. At 1:30 will have tour/talk at Rose & Raindrop, and about 2 pm we'll collect our bikes to head out on our Saturday jaunt in inner SE/downtown, & NW Portland. Ending our educational ride with a tour of the oldest existing craft brewery here in Portland. Tour should end by 5 pm. Beer know-it-alls welcome to share throughout the tour.
